Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to building designers in some states. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm these requirements.
This course provides fundamental skills that offers the student many opportunities on its own. However, for those wishing to further their studies they can use this course as a stepping stone into architecture, project management or interior design.
Upon successful completion of 12 units of competency, students will be issued a CPP50921 Diploma of Building Design. Where a student withdraws prior to the completion of the diploma they will be issued a Statement of Attainment for all units that they have successfully completed if all due fees have been paid

This course is for anyone interested in having a better understanding of the building processes and technologies applied to architecture and building design.
Students wishing to enrol in the CPP50921 Diploma of Building Design will require having completed one of the following qualifications:
CPP40115 Certificate IV in Building Design Drafting
CPP40121 Certificate IV in Residential Drafting
52757WA Certificate IV in Residential Building Drafting, or
Demonstrated relevant vocational experience, skills and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the core units of CPP40121 Certificate IV in Residential Drafting.
The course is conducted over 16 months (full time) / 2.7 years (part time).
Over the duration of the course it is expected that students will need to complete a minimum load of 1280 hours this includes formal work such as reading, and assessments as well as self guided research (20 hours per week recommended to complete course in 16 months)
